  1. It’s so fascinating to see the photo of the portable sawmill being used on the Lueder farm and all the cut trees and stacks of beautiful milled lumber! You can see the reinactment of a scene like this from time to time, but to have an actual photo of this real-life event locally from 1904 is quite incredible.

    1. The photographer, Great Uncle Charlie Nieman, must have been a most interesting man. It was highly unusual for anyone to record such diversity of life with a camera in a rural region back then. The equipment, interest, and ability weren’t common. And, to do so with such superior skill speaks of a very intelligent, talented man with a broad interest in life. I wish I had known him. Thanks for your interest and for the feedback.
